Following an emphatic first-leg victory, Renaissance Sportive de Berkane will face Sierra Leone’s Star Sport Academy on Saturday, October 24, in the second leg of the CAF Champions League second preliminary round.
Powered by an Oussama Lamlioui brace in the first leg, Berkane took a major step toward qualifying for the group stage with a 2-0 away win. Lamlioui opened the scoring in the 14th minute before adding a second just before halftime, in the 45th minute, to seal the result.
Berkane must now finish the job against Star Sport Academy on Saturday, October 24. Kickoff for the second leg is scheduled for 19:00 at the Berkane Municipal Stadium.
RSB’s strong continental form contrasts with a mixed start to their Botola Pro campaign, where they have drawn all three of their matches so far. Could qualification provide fresh momentum and help the team finally get its season underway?
Berkane made an impressive debut in the CAF Champions League last season, reaching the semifinals before losing to AS FAR 2-1 and 1-0 over two legs.
This year, the path looks considerably clearer for the Oranges, with several major contenders absent, including Al Ahly and Wydad. Additionally, some teams are struggling for form, such as ES Tunis and TP Mazembe, and, most notably, defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns have been eliminated early.
The RSB vs. Star Sport Academy match will be broadcast live on Arryadia, the SNRT group’s third channel, via its digital terrestrial television (TNT) service.
