Morocco’s women’s national team completed its final training session on Saturday, July 25, before opening its 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign. The Atlas Lionesses will face Kenya on Sunday in their first Group A match.
The session was attended by all the players selected by head coach Jorge Vilda, who used the final workout to fine-tune his preparations ahead of the tournament opener.
Morocco is hosting the Women’s AFCON for the third consecutive edition. The 2026 tournament also marks the first time in the competition’s history that 16 teams are taking part, compared with 12 in previous editions.
After finishing runners-up to South Africa in 2022 and Nigeria in 2025, the Atlas Lionesses enter this year’s tournament aiming to win their first continental title.
Morocco has been drawn in Group A and will begin its campaign against Kenya on Sunday, July 26. The team will then face Algeria on Thursday, July 30, before concluding the group stage against Senegal on Monday, August 3.
