Morocco’s women’s national team completed its final training session on Friday ahead of its Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026 quarterfinal against South Africa.
The squad trained with focus and determination as head coach Jorge Vilda and his staff fine-tuned their preparations before the knockout clash with Banyana Banyana, with a place in the semifinals at stake.
After finishing top of Group A with seven points, the Atlas Lionesses enter the knockout stage determined to continue their impressive run and move one step closer to winning their first continental title on home soil.
Victory over South Africa would also secure direct qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Vilda said: “Every match presents different challenges, and every team has its strengths and weaknesses,” adding that Morocco’s game plan is built around the team’s playing philosophy and its determination to impose its style on opponents.
Goalkeeper Khadija Er-Rmichi echoed that confidence, saying the squad is fully aware of the responsibility it carries.
She added that the national team continues to improve with each edition of the tournament and remains committed to delivering a performance worthy of the progress achieved by Moroccan women’s football.
