Confederation of African Football President Patrice Motsepe arrived in Rabat on Sunday, July 26, for the opening of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe arrived in Rabat earlier on Sunday, July 26, for the opening of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The South African official was welcomed by Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) Secretary General Tarik Najem and was joined by CAF Acting Secretary General Samson Adamu.

The 14th edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, the third consecutive tournament to be hosted in Morocco, gets underway Sunday with Algeria taking on Senegal at 6 p.m. at the Olympic Stadium, followed by Morocco against Kenya at 9 p.m. at Stade Moulay El Hassan in Rabat.

The tournament, whose final is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 16, serves as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. The four semifinalists will qualify directly for the tournament in South America, while two quarterfinalists will advance to the intercontinental playoffs.
