Morocco’s Yassine Hssine won the gold medal in the 100 meters at the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games on Sunday, August 30.
Hssine clocked 10.31 seconds, finishing ahead of Italy’s Eric Marek and Slovenia’s Anej Curin Ppapotnik.
This marked Morocco’s second athletics medal at the Games, following Fatima Ezzahra Birdaha’s gold in the 5,000 meters earlier on Sunday.
Hssine, a promising Moroccan sprinter, also excels in the 200 meters. The 23-year-old became the first Moroccan to break the 20-second barrier on July 5, setting a national record at the national championships.
