Moroccan forward Yassir Zabiri has been named La Liga’s U23 Player of the Month for September, rewarding his excellent start to the season with Racing Santander.

The Morocco international has scored six goals in as many La Liga matchdays and is described by the Spanish league’s official website as “one of the revelations of the season,” which has also released a video featuring some of his best moments.

The award recognizes the young forward’s performances, which have quickly established him as one of the most prominent attacking players in his team. After making an immediate impact in August with a hat-trick in a single match, Zabiri continued his strong form in September, notably scoring against Barcelona.

The recognition comes as the 20-year-old continues to attract growing attention in Morocco, particularly following his recent appearance for the national team.

Zabiri joined the Cantabrian club on loan for the 2026-2027 season, with the aim of gaining playing time and continuing his development in the Spanish league.

A product of the Mohammed VI Football Academy, the Marrakech native was one of the standout players and the top scorer at the last U20 World Cup in Chile. He began playing football at a young age before joining KAC Marrakech, where he spent two seasons and was spotted by the Mohammed VI Academy at the age of 10.

He spent nine years developing at the academy before joining Union Touarga Sport, where he made his professional debut in January 2024. He then moved to Portugal to join FC Famalicão, followed by a spell in France with Stade Rennais, before moving to Racing Santander.
