Morocco’s economy is expanding at its fastest pace in over a decade, driven by a surge in infrastructure investment and a rebound in the agricultural sector, the World Bank stated in its latest report released on Thursday, July 23.

Moroccan and Indian officials met in Rabat on Thursday, July 23, to explore ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in agricultural research, with discussions focusing on a new joint action plan covering research projects, technology exchange, and sustainable farming.

According to the High Commission for Planning (HCP), growth is expected to reach 5.4% in the third quarter of 2026, supported by the strength of the agricultural sector, although external imbalances and geopolitical uncertainties continue to weigh on the economic outlook.

The Kingdom imported a record 21,600 metric tons of fresh onions between July 2025 and April 2026 as weather-related production losses and limited storage capacity sharply reduced domestic supply.

Water Minister Nizar Baraka said the country has increased dam construction and storage capacity while directing additional water resources to agriculture as Morocco continues to strengthen its response to recurring drought.
