The eighth edition of the International Ifrane Festival came to a close on Wednesday after several days of artistic and cultural programming that attracted thousands of visitors from Morocco and abroad. Organized by the Ifrane Forum for Culture and Development in partnership with the Ifrane Provincial Authority and the Fez-Meknes Regional Council, this year’s festival was held under the theme: “Ifrane National Park: An Exceptional Natural Heritage—Shared Challenges and Prospects for Sustainable Development.”

Morocco’s recent recovery of nine rare fossils from France, dating back between 66 and 72 million years, has once again drawn attention to the illegal trafficking of the country’s paleontological heritage and the scientific and historical losses it causes. The recovery has also raised questions about the scale of fossil smuggling, why Moroccan fossils are targeted by traffickers, and whether existing legal and regulatory measures are sufficient to protect the country’s rich geological heritage.

The sixth edition of the Nomads Festival “Majal Beni Guil” opened in Tendrara on Tuesday, July 21, bringing together cultural, artistic, and heritage activities aimed at preserving the traditions of the Beni Guil region while promoting local development.
