A high-level delegation from Guinea-Bissau visited Dakhla on Friday, September 11, to learn about the development in Dakhla-Oued Eddahab and explore opportunities for cooperation and investment.
The visit was part of Guinea-Bissau’s Economic Promotion Week in Morocco, held from September 7 to 12 to promote the country’s economic potential in the Kingdom and encourage mutually beneficial business partnerships between Moroccan and Bissau-Guinean operators.
Led by Patrícia Cadi Fati, director-general of International Cooperation at Guinea-Bissau’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Communities, the delegation included senior officials from several ministries and representatives from Guinea-Bissau’s Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services.
During their visit, the delegation learned about the economic potential and investment opportunities in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, as well as various major development projects that have been completed or are underway.
Speaking to the press, Cadi Fati noted that cooperation between Morocco and Guinea-Bissau dates back many years and has resulted in several agreements. She added that the presence of officials from different government departments in Dakhla reflects both countries’ desire to continue and strengthen this cooperation.
Referring to her first visit to Dakhla, Cadi Fati expressed pleasant surprise at the region’s achievements. She also conveyed her country’s desire to draw on Morocco’s development experience for Guinea-Bissau’s benefit.
Filomena Mendes Mascarenhas Tipote, Guinea-Bissau’s ambassador to Morocco, stated that the lessons and experiences gained during the visit to Dakhla could be applied in Guinea-Bissau, particularly in some of its regions.
Abba Malainine, an official at the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab Regional Investment Center (CRI), said the meeting provided an opportunity to present the delegation with the region’s economic potential and investment opportunities.
He also highlighted the ongoing development in Dakhla-Oued Eddahab and the various major projects designed to enhance the region’s attractiveness and competitiveness.
The visit, he added, could contribute to strengthening relations between Morocco and Guinea-Bissau and encourage the development of mutually beneficial investment projects.
The Dakhla visit followed a series of meetings in Rabat and Casablanca with public institutions and private-sector economic operators, all part of the Economic Promotion Week, which seeks to boost trade, investment, and partnerships between the two countries.
This initiative is part of the efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, through the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) and its partners, to support Morocco’s economic diplomacy internationally.
