The Interior Ministry is set to get the lion’s share of new government posts next year, with 14,200 of the 34,454 positions proposed in the 2027 Finance Bill going to the department.
Defense and health follow with 5,500 and 5,400 posts, respectively, taking the three departments’ combined share to nearly 73pc of the 33,954 positions distributed among ministries and other state institutions.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance has been allotted 2,460 posts, followed by Higher Education with 1,920 and the prison administration with 1,500.
National Education, by contrast, is down for just 364 posts, fewer than the 400 set aside for the Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs.
The Higher Council of the Judiciary is to get 340 posts and the Justice Ministry 300, while agriculture and equipment and water have been allotted 220 and 200, respectively.

The bill makes a separate provision for 600 posts in the education sector from Jan 1, 2027.
These are intended for civil servants holding doctoral degrees who have passed the competitive examination for teaching and research positions in education and training.
Their existing posts will be abolished once the new positions are created, under a measure stemming from talks between the government and education unions.
Despite the proposed recruitment, the government has called on ministries to keep a tight rein on the creation of posts.
The explanatory note accompanying the bill says fresh positions must be justified by actual staffing needs, with departments encouraged to fill vacancies by transferring existing personnel within and across government services.
