Marsa Maroc said West Med Container Terminal (WMCT), the concessionaire of the East Container Terminal at Nador West Med Port, has secured €196.7 million in long-term project financing from a consortium of Moroccan banks.
The 15-year financing agreement was signed Wednesday and will partially fund the construction of the terminal’s first phase, which represents a total investment of nearly €253 million, Marsa Maroc said in a statement.
The lending consortium is led by Attijariwafa Bank as mandated lead arranger and includes Banque Centrale Populaire (BCP) and Bank of Africa (BOA) as arrangers.
According to Marsa Maroc, the financing forms part of the project’s broader funding plan as construction advances toward commercial operations.
The first phase of the East Container Terminal is scheduled to enter service in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The Nador West Med port is one of Morocco’s largest strategic infrastructure projects and is expected to strengthen the country’s position as a regional logistics and transshipment hub in the Mediterranean.
