Royal Air Maroc (RAM) is accelerating its aircraft deliveries, with the national carrier reaching the symbolic 70-aircraft mark on September 26 after taking delivery of a new Boeing 737 MAX 8 registered as “CN-RHS”. The airline is already preparing to receive its 71st aircraft, which is scheduled to arrive in Morocco in the early hours of Thursday, October 1.

The latest deliveries confirm Royal Air Maroc’s efforts to expand its capacity in recent years. Over five years, the airline’s fleet has grown from 50 aircraft in 2021 to 70 today, representing an increase of 40%. This expansion is part of a development program targeting the addition of an average of 10 to 15 aircraft each year.

The airline has previously announced plans to reach a fleet of 74 aircraft by the end of 2026 and 88 aircraft in 2027. In the longer term, the target is to reach 200 aircraft by 2037, in line with the program contract signed with the Moroccan state in July 2023.

The expansion of the fleet is expected to support the growth of Royal Air Maroc’s international network and strengthen Casablanca’s role as an air hub.

The plan specifically calls for the network to expand to 143 international destinations and for the airline to carry around 31.6 million passengers by 2037.

While awaiting the first deliveries from the major orders currently being prepared, which are expected from 2028, Royal Air Maroc continues to expand its fleet through aircraft purchases and leasing operations.

In April 2024, the airline launched a tender to acquire up to 200 aircraft from Boeing, Airbus, Embraer and ATR.

According to information reported by Bloomberg, the Boeing portion of the order could include up to 50 Boeing 737 aircraft, along with around 20 787 Dreamliners.
