Royal Air Maroc’s (RAM) fleet expansion and modernization program is continuing, with the national carrier set to take delivery of a brand-new Boeing 737 MAX 8, which will carry the Moroccan registration CN-RHR.
The acquisition marks another milestone for the national airline. Once the aircraft joins the fleet, RAM will have 69 aircraft in total, including those operated by its regional subsidiary RAM Express. This is the largest fleet the state-owned carrier has ever operated.
The aircraft will also be the 18th Boeing 737 MAX 8 delivered to RAM, further cementing the model’s role at the heart of the airline’s network. Boeing remains the carrier’s main aircraft manufacturer for its short- and medium-haul operations, with the new aircraft bringing the number of single-aisle Boeing jets in the fleet to 45.

The new delivery will allow Royal Air Maroc to optimize its operations on high-demand routes to Europe, West Africa and the Middle East, while providing passengers with greater cabin comfort.
“Royal Air Maroc’s development plan calls for the integration of an average of 10 to 15 aircraft per year. Each aircraft undergoes a rigorous technical process to ensure compliance with international requirements as well as the airline’s own standards,” Oussama El Farisi, RAM’s head of engineering, previously told Le360.
The fleet expansion is part of the airline’s broader strategy to grow its network. In recent months, RAM has launched around 20 new direct routes linking Morocco with major economic and tourism hubs, including Beijing, São Paulo, Los Angeles, St. Petersburg, Manchester and N’Djamena.
The expansion also falls under the program contract signed between the state and the national carrier in July 2023, which aims to quadruple RAM’s fleet to 200 aircraft by 2037.
