Morocco has formally authorized Royal Air Maroc (RAM) to establish a new aviation training subsidiary dedicated to aircraft maintenance and technical professions, marking another step in the national carrier’s long-term expansion strategy.
A decree published in the latest edition of the Official Gazette authorizes the creation of Moroccan Academy of Aeronautics SA, a wholly owned RAM subsidiary tasked with developing and operating specialized training programs for the aviation industry.
The decree, dated July 23, was signed by Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch and countersigned by Minister of Economy and Finance Nadia Fettah.
The academy forms part of the implementation of two agreements signed in December 2025. The first concerns the development of vocational training for Morocco’s aviation and airport logistics sectors, while the second establishes the legal and operational framework for the new subsidiary.
The government approval follows a decision by RAM’s Board of Directors on May 7, 2026, to create the company, as well as a favorable opinion from Morocco’s National Agency for the Strategic Management of State Holdings and the Performance Monitoring of Public Enterprises and Establishments.
Supporting Morocco’s aviation ambitions
According to the decree, the Moroccan Academy of Aeronautics SA will be established with an initial capital of MAD300,000.
Its mission will be to manage, develop and operate training programs covering aircraft maintenance, airline operations and technical support activities across the aviation sector.
The academy’s principal objective is to significantly expand Morocco’s capacity to train aircraft maintenance professionals, increasing annual output to more than 550 technicians in maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) professions to meet growing industry demand.
The initiative supports Royal Air Maroc’s broader development strategy under its 2037 program contract, which aims to expand the airline’s fleet, strengthen maintenance capabilities and reinforce its technical support activities.
The academy is expected to play a central role in supplying the skilled workforce needed to support that expansion while strengthening Morocco’s position as a regional aviation and aerospace hub.
The project also aligns with the Kingdom’s wider efforts to develop high-value industrial skills and support the continued growth of its aviation ecosystem, which has become one of Morocco’s leading export-oriented industries.
