Death of Moroccan national in Bologna: Foreign Ministry demands accountability

Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates said Tuesday it is closely monitoring the circumstances surrounding the death of a Moroccan national in the northern Italian city of Bologna and has called for a swift, comprehensive investigation.

In a statement, the ministry said Moroccan authorities have asked their Italian counterparts to conduct a thorough inquiry to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death and provide all necessary clarifications.

The ministry also called for accountability to be established and for all legal procedures and safeguards to be fully applied.

Moroccan authorities will continue to closely monitor the case as part of their ongoing commitment to protecting the interests of Moroccan citizens living abroad, the statement said.

It added that Morocco’s embassy and consulate general in Italy have been instructed to closely follow developments in the investigation.
