Presenting Morocco’s statement, Majdouline Salaheddine, Deputy Permanent Representative of Morocco to the UN Office in Geneva, thanked the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights for his report and wished him success in his second term.
She said Morocco continued to contribute actively to strengthening the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) ahead of its fifth cycle.
The diplomat noted that Morocco hosted an international retreat in Rabat in June dedicated to the UPR process. The Kingdom is also preparing a side event on Sept. 24 to present the conclusions of the meeting, which brought together representatives from states, the UN Human Rights Office, civil society and universities.

Morocco is also preparing for the next meeting of the International Network of National Mechanisms for Reporting, Implementation and Follow-up, scheduled for next spring, Salaheddine said.
According to the Moroccan delegation, this process could help strengthen prospects for the Global Alliance for Human Rights.
At the same time, Morocco will continue working to promote human rights in response to emerging challenges linked to climate change, artificial intelligence and online hate speech, she said.
On migration, the Kingdom said it would continue supporting efforts by the UN Human Rights Office toward “human rights-based migration governance,” the diplomat concluded.
