A landmark decision in support of peace
Acting on instructions of King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces and chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration Abdellatif Loudiyi received Nikolay Mladenov, High Representative of the Gaza Peace Council, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rabat. The meeting was attended by the Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and commander of the Southern Zone, as well as the commander of the Royal Gendarmerie.
During the meeting, Morocco and the Gaza Peace Council signed an agreement establishing the legal and operational framework governing the Kingdom’s participation in the International Stabilization Force in Gaza.

The agreement formalizes Morocco’s contribution to the multinational mission through humanitarian, security and institutional support initiatives designed to help create the conditions for stability during Gaza’s transitional period.
The signing of the agreement also underscores King Mohammed VI’s commitment to peace and regional stability.
Morocco has consistently based its efforts on practical and concrete initiatives while maintaining its firm and principled support for the two-state solution, which calls for the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, living side by side with Israel in peace and security within the June 4, 1967, borders.
Humanitarian and security commitments
Since the outbreak of the war in Gaza, King Mohammed VI has repeatedly ordered the delivery of emergency humanitarian aid to the Palestinian population. Morocco has delivered aid through a land corridor into Gaza, established field hospitals and provided nearly 280 metric tons of humanitarian assistance, including 180 tons in July 2025 and a further 100 tons the following month.
Through the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency, the Kingdom has also provided financial support exceeding $2.2 million.
At the inaugural meeting of the Gaza Peace Council in Washington on Feb. 19, 2026, Morocco, under royal instructions, pledged to contribute financially to the council’s budget, becoming the first country to do so.
The Kingdom also committed to deploying senior officers already assigned to the headquarters of the International Stabilization Force, alongside a Moroccan contingent composed primarily of police officers and Royal Gendarmerie personnel tasked with helping train Gaza’s future police service.
Morocco further pledged to equip a military field hospital serving both the multinational force and Gaza’s civilian population, while supporting programs aimed at countering extremism and promoting tolerance and coexistence.
These commitments build on the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency’s longstanding work in preserving cultural heritage and improving living conditions for Palestinians in East Jerusalem.
Mandate of the stabilization force
Established under a United Nations Security Council resolution, the International Stabilization Force is intended to help secure Gaza during the transitional period, protect civilians, facilitate the return of displaced residents and assist in training a new Palestinian police force capable of restoring public order.
The force is also expected to help create a secure environment for humanitarian operations and large-scale reconstruction projects.
The kingdom’s participation is intended to support civilian protection, humanitarian assistance, and post-conflict stabilization rather than any party to the conflict.
The Kingdom’s involvement is part of broader international efforts to consolidate a lasting ceasefire and advance implementation of the wider peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump.
Responding to the humanitarian crisis
The humanitarian consequences of the conflict remain severe.
More than 70,000 Palestinians have been killed since the war began, including over 20,000 children. More than two million people have been displaced, while reconstruction needs are estimated at approximately $53 billion.
By signing the agreement, Morocco has made clear that its participation in the International Stabilization Force is a concrete response to the needs of civilians and a step toward protecting them in the face of this humanitarian tragedy. It is not an endorsement of any party, but rather an outstretched hand aimed at allowing Gaza’s children to return to school, hospitals to reopen, and families to go back home.
Morocco’s position on the Gaza peace plan
Morocco welcomed the continued diplomatic efforts led by US President Donald Trump and other international partners, saying they had helped create the conditions for the current initiative.
Morocco reiterated its support for a negotiated two-state solution as the only path toward a just and lasting peace, based on an independent and sovereign Palestinian state within the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital and including the Gaza Strip, living alongside Israel in peace and security.
