The decision was taken Saturday at the PAM National Council, which met behind closed doors at the Skhirat Convention Center following the party’s victory in the September 23 legislative elections.
El Mansouri described the meeting as a decisive moment for determining the party’s alliances in the next government.
Le360 learned that many party members urged El Mansouri not to reproduce the previous governing majority, particularly by forming another alliance with the RNI.
Speaking after the meeting, El Mansouri said the session had been marked by “immense joy and great pride” over the election results and, above all, over her appointment as head of government by King Mohammed VI.
She described the discussions as intense and far from straightforward, saying members had exchanged opposing views, with some setting red lines while others called for an open dialogue.
The National Council ultimately voted unanimously to authorize her to lead the negotiations alongside the committee appointed by the party’s political bureau, El Mansouri said.

With preliminary consultations now complete, El Mansouri said the process was entering a new phase. “Formal negotiations will begin this week,” she said.
Newly elected MP and PAM National Council member Mohamed Hjira also reflected the mood of the discussions, which were largely focused on calls not to reproduce the previous governing majority.
Meanwhile, Istiqlal Party Secretary-General Nizar Baraka told members of his party’s National Council that “PAM has decided not to renew a majority with the RNI.”
