Work on 2 Mars Avenue is nearing completion, with only final touches left on an MAD 18 million overhaul of one of Casablanca’s busiest arteries.
The project covers a 5-km stretch between Rond-point d’Europe and Boulevard Anoual, with the road surface, pavements, drainage network, green spaces and public lighting all upgraded.
“Major works are coming to an end. They were carried out day and night,” Mers Sultan district council president Mohamed Touimi Benjelloun told Le360.
Only the “final touches” remain, he said.
The wider 2 Mars Avenue runs from Rond-point d’Europe towards the Hachouma Avenue intersection, near Californie and the urban motorway, but the current project stops at Boulevard Anoual.
The MAD 18 million overhaul included resurfacing the roadway and rebuilding pavements, alongside upgrades to public lighting and landscaping.

The drainage network was also redone as part of the works.
“We are seeing a real transformation today, whether in the road, pavements, green spaces or public lighting,” Benjelloun said.
He said further changes are planned for the area in the coming years as Casablanca prepares for upcoming major events.
