Before work began on the fourth bridge between Temara and Harhoura, the project partners — the Temara Development Company, the municipalities, the regional council and Autoroutes du Maroc — decided to widen roads around the highway.
The work is being carried out along Gaza Boulevard in southwestern Temara, in the El Wifaq neighborhood and near the Laayoune neighborhood mosque in Harhoura. The project is expected to cost tens of millions of dirhams.
While many road users have welcomed the project, members of Harhoura’s municipal council have questioned the location of the bridge, arguing that it is too close to the three existing bridges.
“We asked during a meeting for the fourth bridge to be moved farther from central Harhoura to create more space for traffic, but our proposal was rejected,” a local elected official told Le360.
