Euromed University of Fes (UEMF) has once again ranked first in Morocco in the 2026 edition of the international UI GreenMetric Sustainable University Rankings, placing 323rd worldwide among universities from 110 countries.
The latest recognition reflects the university’s broader strategy combining academic excellence, scientific research and innovation with a strong commitment to sustainable development.
“This result recognizes the University’s commitment to a development model combining academic excellence, research and innovation, environmental and social responsibility, international openness and the quality of the university environment,” UEMF said in a statement.
Euromed University of Fes is a non-profit public-interest institution accredited by the Union for the Mediterranean with the support of its 43 member countries. It operates under the high honorary presidency of its founder, King Mohammed VI.
UI GreenMetric is one of the leading international rankings focused on sustainability in higher education. It assesses universities across several areas, including education and research, infrastructure, energy, water and waste management, mobility and governance.
Eight UEMF researchers rank among world’s top 2% most influential scientists
The latest distinction adds to a broader series of international recognitions for UEMF across several major higher education rankings.
In the 2026 Round University Ranking (RUR), the university retained its first-place position in Morocco after also ranking second in Africa in the previous edition, behind the University of Cape Town in South Africa. UEMF also appears in the 2026 Times Higher Education ranking, where it ranks second in Morocco and falls within the 401–600 range worldwide.
This performance is further reflected in ScholarGPS, which ranks UEMF first nationally, as well as U-Multirank, where the university ranked first nationally in education and research and among the world’s top 25 for student mobility.
In scientific research, eight UEMF faculty members were included in the 2025 Stanford–Elsevier ranking of the world’s top 2% most influential scientists, reflecting the growing international visibility of research produced at the university.
Taken together, these recognitions cover different areas of higher education and reflect a trajectory combining academic quality, scientific research, internationalization, societal impact and sustainable development.
