Judicial police in Fes seized 4.1 tons of cannabis resin and arrested three suspects during an operation conducted early Saturday, October 10, in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST).

Officers from the regional judicial police brigade foiled an attempt to traffic 4 tons and 100 kilograms of cannabis resin, locally known as chira. The three individuals are suspected of links to a criminal network involved in the international trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances.

The operation took place in a rural area near Fes. Police arrested the main suspect and found a truck loaded with cannabis resin, along with four marine engines and four inflatable boats suspected of being used in international drug trafficking operations.

Further investigations led to the arrest of two additional suspects believed to have taken part in the criminal activity. Checks against the National Security database revealed that the main suspect was wanted nationwide over her alleged involvement in a similar case involving drug and psychotropic substance trafficking.

The three suspects have been placed under judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office. Investigators are working to identify any other branches of the network and establish the full extent of the alleged criminal activities.

The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) and the DGST to combat international drug and psychotropic substance trafficking networks.
