Moroccan police arrested a 45-year-old Spanish national in Tangier on Thursday, October 8, over his alleged involvement in international drug trafficking and money laundering. He was staying in Morocco illegally and was wanted by Spanish judicial authorities under an international arrest warrant.
Officers from the Tangier Prefectural Police carried out the arrest during a security operation in the city.
A check of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) database confirmed that the man was wanted in connection with an alleged international drug trafficking and money laundering case.
The suspect was placed in police custody pending referral to the competent public prosecutor’s office. Interpol’s National Central Bureau in Rabat, which operates under Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), was tasked with notifying its Spanish counterpart of the arrest as part of the extradition procedure.
