According to a security source, the arrest followed close coordination between Bouznika police and Royal Gendarmerie officers in Mansouria. A database check showed that the suspect was wanted internationally under a red notice issued by Interpol at the request of the Interpol National Central Bureau in Tripoli.

The source said the suspect is believed to have links to an international drug trafficking network. He was arrested by Libyan authorities in 2002 and sentenced to life in prison before escaping from prison in 2011, taking advantage of the situation in Libya at the time.

The suspect was placed under extradition procedures on the instructions of the public prosecutor’s office. Interpol Rabat, the National Central Bureau of the General Directorate of National Security, was tasked with notifying its Libyan counterpart of the arrest.

The arrest comes as Moroccan security services continue to implement international security cooperation mechanisms and pursue individuals wanted in connection with cross-border crime.
