According to a security source, the suspect was arrested after a check against the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) database showed that he was internationally wanted under a Red Notice issued at the request of the Interpol National Central Bureau in Dakar. He is suspected of involvement in commercial and investment-related fraud cases.

According to preliminary information, the suspect is accused of obtaining significant sums of money from alleged victims of a travel agency he managed. He allegedly deceived them by promising to arrange trips and provide travel documents that did not actually exist, including for travelers seeking to perform the Hajj pilgrimage.

The arrested foreign national was placed in police custody on instructions from the competent public prosecutor’s office. Senegalese authorities were also notified of the arrest, pending completion of the legal procedures and activation of the bilateral extradition process in accordance with the relevant international agreements.
