Police in Tangier arrested a man on Monday, August 31, on suspicion of possessing and selling explosive materials under circumstances that could endanger people and property.

Officers from the Tangier Judicial Police arrested the suspect after an intelligence monitoring unit detected a social media post offering for sale projectiles said to date back to the colonial era in northern Morocco, according to a security source.

Technical investigations and field inquiries led to the identification of the suspect, who was subsequently arrested during a security operation in Tangier.

Police found five old projectiles in his possession. They are currently undergoing ballistic examinations to determine their nature and potential danger.

The suspect has been placed under judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to determine all the circumstances surrounding the case and identify any other criminal acts attributed to him.
