Moroccan police have arrested a 37-year-old French national wanted by authorities in France to serve a prison sentence for fraud, vehicle theft, money laundering, and firearms offenses, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) said on Thursday, July 9.
The suspect was arrested in Casablanca by the judicial police following intelligence provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
A check through Interpol’s database confirmed that the man was the subject of an international wanted notice issued at the request of the National Central Bureau in Paris.
According to Moroccan authorities, the warrant relates to the enforcement of a sentence handed down after the suspect was convicted of fraud, vehicle theft, handling stolen vehicles, money laundering, and the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
The suspect has been placed under extradition procedures on the instructions of the competent public prosecutor.
Interpol Rabat, which operates under the DGSN, has notified its counterpart in France of the arrest as part of the extradition process.
