The latest downpours have left roads impassable in places and isolated rural communities after damaging key sections of the road network.

In Al Hoceima province, severe flooding swept through streets and neighborhoods in Imzouren following thunderstorms. Narrow streets turned into torrents, disrupting traffic and damaging homes, cars and small crossing structures. The Agadir neighborhood and National Road No. 2 were among the hardest-hit areas.

Damage also spread to neighboring Beni Bouayach, where a local river overflowed, flooding homes and businesses. Floodwaters carried private vehicles considerable distances, causing extensive material damage.

Further south, the road linking Igherm in Taroudant province to Tagmout in Tata province was cut off. Fields and agricultural equipment were also destroyed by powerful currents.

In Tata province, technical teams working under the governor’s supervision assessed damage to roads and engineering structures in the commune of Tamanarte. The damage followed flooding along the Yirg river near the village of Aghir Ighnayen.

The assessment found that several sections of a wall built to protect the village from flooding had collapsed. A local sports ground and a public square were also directly affected.

Provincial authorities are preparing a detailed technical report to document the losses and plan urgent repairs to damaged infrastructure.
