As the education sector is being debated in Parliament as part of the 2027 Finance Bill, a source close to Mohamed Nabil Benabdallah, head of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool Education, Vocational Training and Qualification, told Le360 that he had decided to raise the age limit for candidates taking the various recruitment exams organized by his department to 40.

The measure, initially introduced by the Akhannouch government, had sparked strong controversy in some political circles.

The new minister’s decision follows a lengthy public debate over the 35-year age limit initially introduced under former minister Chakib Benmoussa, a restriction that had excluded many qualified candidates.
