The drugs were concealed inside a cargo container arriving from South America, according to customs sources.

The container had arrived from the Brazilian port of Rio Grande and was subjected to a detailed scan. A field inspection was then carried out by the commercial operations control unit, with the participation of judicial police officers and a sniffer-dog unit.

The inspection led to the seizure of approximately 48.3 kilograms of cocaine, which had been carefully concealed inside a refrigerated compartment.

The shipment also contained a GPS tracking device.

The seizure highlights the joint monitoring and coordination efforts at the Tangier Med port complex as authorities step up action against international drug-smuggling networks and cross-border organized crime.
