In M’diq, Fnideq and Martil, Le360 found that apartment rentals start at no less than 500 dirhams per night. Prices for apartments near the beach range from 500 to 900 dirhams, compared with no more than 250 dirhams during previous periods. During the peak months of July and August, they reached as much as 1,600 dirhams, particularly in Cabo Negro, M’diq and Martil.
Along Tangier’s corniche and main streets, nightly rental prices have exceeded 1,200 dirhams, compared with less than 600 dirhams during the same period in previous years.
The price hikes have also extended to inland neighborhoods, around one kilometer from the coast in M’diq, Fnideq and Martil, where nightly rates have reached 600 dirhams.
Meanwhile, prices have remained between 400 and 700 dirhams per night, with no sign of a decline, along Chefchaouen’s coastal strip, including Oued Laou, Jebha, Qaâ Asras, Targha, Stehat and Amtar.

The sharp increase has sparked widespread frustration among visitors to the region in late August and early September, particularly as many consider the prices disproportionate to the quality of the apartments on offer. The situation has prompted several families to leave M’diq and head instead to coastal villages and towns in the Chefchaouen province.
Meanwhile, strong demand continues to encourage landlords to raise their prices, taking advantage of the busy tourism season and the Eid al-Mawlid holiday. Holidaymakers have described the practice as opportunistic, accusing landlords of exploiting the influx of visitors to the region.
