The Blue Flag was raised on Friday, July 17, at Tamaris 2 beach in Nouaceur Province during a ceremony attended by the provincial governor, as well as institutional and local partners. The distinction is part of the national “Clean Beaches” program, led by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection.
According to Zouhair Magour, who oversees beach management in Nouaceur Province, the award reflects significant investment and close coordination on the ground.
Speaking to Le360, Magour said the beach benefited from financial and logistical support from its official partner, Airports of Morocco, which made it possible to develop facilities that meet international standards.
These include free beach umbrellas, wooden walkways providing easier access to the shore, restrooms, modern showers and free Wi-Fi for visitors. A large pool has also been installed at the entrance to the corniche, while coordination centers bringing together the Royal Gendarmerie, Civil Protection and the Moroccan Red Crescent have been set up to ensure beachgoers’ safety.
Magour noted that the projects were carried out in line with the directives of the governor of Nouaceur Province and with funding provided by Airports of Morocco.
He added that Tamaris 2 beach is also hosting a range of activities this summer, including interactive workshops and water sports for visitors.

In addition, an initiative described as a national first has been launched in partnership with local cooperatives supported under the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH).
The project involves setting up dedicated sales spaces on the beach, allowing the cooperatives to market their products directly to visitors.
The initiative coincides with the celebration of the International Day of Cooperatives. It primarily benefits cooperatives supported under the 2017, 2018 and 2020 INDH programs, with the aim of turning the experience into a model that could be replicated on other beaches across the province in pursuit of the international Blue Flag label.
