A 19-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday after a 74-year-old man was found dead inside his home in Tikiouine, police said.

The body was found on Monday night with injuries caused by a bladed weapon and a blunt object.

Police in Agadir and Tikiouine identified the suspect during their investigation and arrested him on Tuesday afternoon in Agadir’s Hay Mohammadi neighborhood. The operation was carried out in coordination with the DGST.

Initial investigations indicate that the victim was struck on the head with a gas cylinder while the two were inside his home, according to the DGSN.

The suspect is then alleged to have stabbed the man several times, causing his death.

Police have not said what led to the attack.

A search carried out as part of the investigation recovered cash from the suspect which police believe may be linked to the alleged robbery.

Several other items that could be connected to the killing were also seized.

The suspect was placed in police custody as investigators seek to establish the circumstances and motive behind the killing.
