A series of socio-economic development projects were launched on Saturday, October 31, in several communes across Tinghir province to mark the first anniversary of Unity Day.

The projects involve substantial investments through partnerships with the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), the relevant government departments and elected councils. Launched by Tinghir Governor Ismail Haykal, they aim to strengthen social care, support the healthcare system, improve schooling conditions, protect infrastructure against flooding and improve water resource management.

At the provincial headquarters, Haykal handed over the keys to three vehicles intended to transport people in vulnerable situations. The vehicles represent a total investment of MAD 1.35 million and were provided under the INDH’s second program, which supports people in precarious circumstances.

They will serve the Tinghir hemodialysis center, the Aït Hani education and rehabilitation center, and patients suffering from kidney failure in the Assoul district.

An ambulance equipped for medical outreach caravans was also handed over to the provincial delegation of Health and Social Protection. The vehicle cost MAD 402,000 and was acquired under the INDH program dedicated to developing human capital among rising generations.

In education, a partnership agreement was announced for the purchase of 26 school buses for 2026, with a total budget of MAD 12 million, including an MAD 6 million contribution from the INDH.

In Tinghir commune, the governor launched construction work on a bridge structure over the Chqouq river along National Road No. 10, as part of a project to protect the city against flooding.

In Taghzout N’Aït Atta commune, work also began on a program to build rainwater collection barriers and artificially recharge groundwater reserves. The initiative aims to protect soil and water resources and help preserve oasis ecosystems. Construction also began on a hydraulic barrier in the village of Taghia N’Ilmchane, with an investment of MAD 5.2 million.

The governor also inaugurated a center for children with autism spectrum disorders and handed over a vehicle to transport its beneficiaries. The project, which cost approximately MAD 1.51 million, was carried out through a partnership between the INDH, the National Mutual Aid agency, Alnif commune and the provincial delegation of Health.

Speaking to MAP, Ismail Bounahli, head of the Social Action Division (DAS) in Tinghir province, said the center’s inauguration was part of the INDH’s ongoing efforts under its second program, which focuses on supporting people in vulnerable situations.

He explained that the initiative helped rehabilitate the premises and equip them with appropriate materials. It also provided an operating grant in partnership with Alnif commune and funded the purchase of a vehicle to transport children from the commune’s various villages. The aim is to bring the service closer to families and make it easier for beneficiaries to access specialized support.
