Abdellah Ouazane confirmed his decision to represent Morocco internationally after Ajax Amsterdam’s 5-3 Conference League victory over FC Sion on Thursday, August 27.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder stated that he made the decision after extensive discussions with his parents, adding that representing his country is a dream.
“I have chosen Morocco after discussing it at length with my parents, and I am happy with my decision. Everyone dreams of playing for their country. I started with Morocco’s under-15 team and aspire to join the senior team. I believe that step is getting closer. I am waiting and doing my best,” the midfielder said.
Ouazane started the match and played a key role in Ajax’s victory, providing two assists for his teammates on the Dutch club’s third and fourth goals.
Morocco head coach Mohamed Ouahbi and his assistant Joao Sacramento were present at the Johan Cruijff ArenA to watch the match and observe the young Moroccan’s performance. They later met with Ouazane at a restaurant in Amsterdam after the game.
