Abdessamad Ezzalzouli will miss Betis Seville’s meeting with Real Madrid on Friday, September 3, in the Matchday 4 of La Liga. With Betis hosting Real Madrid, coach Manuel Pellegrini announced that the Moroccan winger and international would miss the game.
“Neither Gio Lo Celso nor Abde have been called up for tomorrow’s match (...) Abde is suffering from flu today, so he could not come, but we hope both will be back next week,” Pellegrini said at his pre-match press conference.
The Atlas Lion, who returned from a knee injury suffered shortly before the 2026 World Cup during a friendly against Norway (1-1) last June, has so far only played a few minutes for Betis, against Levante in late August in the third round of La Liga, a game Betis lost 5-2.
The Chilean coach also spoke about Sofyan Amrabat’s recent move to Ajax. The Moroccan international spent last season at Betis on loan from Fenerbahçe, with Spanish reports claiming that Pellegrini had asked him to be patient in the final hours of the transfer window in the hope of completing his return.

With the move now completed, Pellegrini said the matter was closed. “He has signed for Ajax. I wish him the best for the rest of his career and we will focus on what we have here,” he said.
