Brahim Diaz is struggling to find playing time at Real Madrid, with Spanish newspaper Marca reporting that the Moroccan international could reconsider his future during the January transfer window.
Once valued as an attacking option capable of changing a game, the Atlas Lion has seen his role diminish under José Mourinho. The competition for places in Real Madrid’s attack has further limited his opportunities.
The latest Champions League match against AS Roma offered another indication of his situation. With Real Madrid trailing 3-1, Mourinho made several attacking changes, including bringing on Endrick on the right wing, a position Diaz knows well. The Moroccan remained on the bench for the entire match.
Endrick made the most of his opportunity, scoring and impressing with his performance. The Brazilian’s display strengthened his position in Mourinho’s plans and appeared to give him an advantage over Diaz.

The statistics underline the Moroccan’s limited involvement. He has played just 178 minutes across four matches this season. Of the 20 players Mourinho used in his first 10 games, only Carlos Espí and Endrick have played fewer minutes.
Diaz’s last appearance came against Elche on September 15. He has not played since, despite hoping to secure a more prominent role in the squad.
After the match in Rome, Mourinho also ruled out a loan move for Endrick in January.
“It is impossible for Endrick to leave on loan in January,” the Portuguese coach said.
The decision to keep the Brazilian could further complicate Diaz’s situation. With Endrick no longer expected to leave temporarily, Marca suggests the Moroccan could instead become a player to watch during the winter transfer window.
No official decision has been announced regarding Diaz’s future. His situation could nevertheless become one of Real Madrid’s talking points ahead of the January transfer window if his playing time does not improve.
