PSG secured a commanding 4-2 victory away to Manchester City on Wednesday. Hakimi and his teammates controlled the match from start to finish, with the Moroccan right-back also delivering a strong performance.

Speaking to CBS Sports Golazo, he expressed his satisfaction with both the result and the team’s display.

“We’re very happy with our performance and the three points. We’re always delighted to compete in this competition and play these kinds of matches,” he said.

“We’re ready, and we’re showing the whole world that this is our playground. After all, we’re the reigning champions of this competition. That’s a very interesting way of putting it,” said the Moroccan international, a two-time Champions League winner with PSG.

Hakimi also discussed another prize, the Ballon d’Or, for which he has been nominated alongside reigning winner Ousmane Dembélé, as well as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Nuno Mendes, Willian Pacho, Fabián Ruiz, Ferran Torres and Vitinha.

“Will the Ballon d’Or winner be a PSG player again this year? I hope so!” he told CBS Sports Golazo.

The Atlas Lion acknowledged that “the Ballon d’Or is a very special trophy.” Having won the African Ballon d’Or last year, Hakimi said he was “very happy to be nominated and to be on the list.”

The defender nevertheless places collective trophies above individual honors, saying that “the observers will decide who deserves them.”
