According to Spanish daily AS, Celta Vigo and PSV Eindhoven have reached an agreement for the transfer of Couhaib Driouech during the summer transfer window. The 24-year-old winger is expected in Vigo in the coming days for a medical before completing the move.
The Spanish club had been following the Moroccan since the start of the summer, before Rangers moved ahead in the race for his signature. The Scottish club had reached an agreement with PSV over a fee estimated at €8 million.
The deal ultimately collapsed at the last minute because of a disagreement over Driouech’s physical condition. Rangers’ medical staff estimated that his muscle injury would keep him out for around six weeks, while PSV’s medical team considered it minor.
According to the same source, Celta Vigo and PSV reached an agreement this weekend for a fee below the €8 million offered by Rangers.
Driouech must now pass his medical before signing his contract with the Spanish club. According to information from the Netherlands reported by AS, the player has a minor thigh tear and a small bruise after taking a knock to his knee. The injury is considered minor and is not expected to keep him out for long.
Under contract with PSV Eindhoven until June 2029, Driouech made 40 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring nine goals and providing eight assists.
