Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo, 41, has announced his retirement from international football in a post on his Instagram account, several weeks after a dramatic episode in which he left the national team camp following a dispute with the head coach.
“Today, my journey with the national team comes to an end,” Ronaldo said in a video.
He made 234 appearances for Portugal and scored 146 goals since making his debut in 2003.
