Morocco eliminate Algeria to qualify for 2027 Beach Volleyball World Championships

The Moroccan women’s beach volleyball team defeated Algeria 2-1 in the African Championship quarterfinals in Alexandria, advancing to the last four and securing a place at the 2027 World Championships.

Morocco’s women’s beach volleyball team advanced to the semifinals of the African Beach Volleyball Championship after defeating Algeria 2-1 in the quarterfinals on Friday at Abu Heif Beach in Alexandria.

Algeria won the first set 21-18, but Morocco rallied to take the second set 21-9 and the decisive third set 15-13.

This victory secured the Moroccan pair a spot at the 2027 World Championships.

Morocco is set to face Egypt in the semifinals of the African Championship on Saturday.

The competition is also a crucial qualifier for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, with the winners of both the men’s and women’s tournaments directly qualifying for the Olympics.

A total of 45 teams are participating in the African Championship, comprising 24 men’s teams and 21 women’s teams from 28 African countries.
