Although the defeat to France left a bitter taste, supporters gathered at Boston’s Gillette Stadium expressed their pride in the remarkable run put together by the Atlas Lions.
“Of course, the elimination hurts, but we remain proud of what the Atlas Lions achieved during this World Cup. Today, we came up against a great team that deserved to win. This experience will help us continue to improve. With a World Cup set to take place on home soil in a few years, we hope we’ll be even better prepared to compete with the world’s top nations and, perhaps, challenge for the trophy. Despite the disappointment, we’re proud of everything this group has accomplished and of all the sacrifices they made,” one supporter said.
“France were a very tough opponent today. Even so, we’re incredibly proud of the Atlas Lions. The players always give everything they have and represent Morocco with dignity. Reaching the quarterfinals is already a tremendous achievement. We have to keep working and improving if we want to go even further. We are very proud of you. You honoured the national flag and made 45 million Moroccans proud. Thank you for all your efforts,” a female fan added.
“Despite the result, we’re proud to have supported this team, which enjoyed a fantastic World Cup campaign. This squad is still evolving and will come back stronger at the next Africa Cup of Nations and the next World Cup. We will always stand behind the Atlas Lions. I also hope this won’t be Yassine Bounou’s last World Cup and that Mohamed Ouahbi continues to trust the younger generation to build an even stronger and more experienced team,” another supporter said.
“Unfortunately, we crossed paths with France once again. I just hope we won’t meet them again in 2030,” another fan remarked. “Even after this defeat, we’re proud to be Moroccan and proud of our national team. The players represented the country with honour. Thank you to Yassine Bounou and to the entire squad. Reaching the quarterfinals and being among the eight best teams in the world is already exceptional. We’ll continue to support you, in victory and in defeat.”
“We’re proud of you. Dima Maghrib. We’ll support you no matter what, whether we win or lose,” another supporter said. “I think the team played much better in the second half. In the first half, they didn’t really perform at their usual level. Toward the end of the game, they gave everything they had, but France are extremely dangerous on the counterattack. It’s a shame we couldn’t score or create more chances. Still, we had a great World Cup. The players did their best and, God willing, next time will be our time.”
“It’s difficult to accept this result. Once again, we lost to France,” another Moroccan fan concluded. “Naturally, we’re disappointed, but we remain very proud of everything this team has achieved. We’ll come back stronger in 2030, on home soil, with the ambition of winning the World Cup. There were highs and lows throughout the tournament, but we believe in this team. We already have a solid foundation to build on for the future. That’s football—you have to know how to accept defeat. Congratulations to all the players for what they accomplished.”
