Spanish club FC Badalona Women announced on Friday, November 6, the signing of Moroccan international Zineb Redouani from AS FAR, as the team looks to reinforce its defense in Liga F Moeve.
The 26-year-old fullback said in a statement released by the Catalan club that she was “very happy” to join the team and play in “a championship as competitive as the Spanish league, known for its high technical and tactical demands.”
Redouani came through the ranks at Raja Aïn Harrouda before joining AS FAR in 2020. With the Rabat club, she won seven Moroccan league titles and six Throne Cups, and reached two CAF Women’s Champions League finals.
With Morocco’s national team, the Atlas Lioness reached the final of the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). Her performances in the tournament earned her a place in the competition’s Team of the Tournament, as well as in the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) Best XI that same year.
Her signing comes as FC Badalona Women deal with several defensive absences, including that of Berta Pujadas, who underwent surgery for a meniscus injury in her right knee and is expected to be sidelined for several months.
Known for her speed and comfort in combination play, Redouani is expected to bring added dynamism to the flanks of the Catalan side’s defense.
The Moroccan newcomer has already taken part in three training sessions with her new club and could make her debut on Monday against Atlético Madrid.
