Morocco Sailing Championship concludes in Tangier with Optimist and ILCA 4 titles awarded

Sailors compete at Dalia Beach near Tanger Med port during the 2026 Morocco Sailing Championship, which brought together more than 60 competitors from sailing clubs across the country.

The 2026 Morocco Sailing Championship concluded Saturday at Dalia Beach near Tanger Med port, with sailors crowned in the Optimist and ILCA 4 categories after five days of competition featuring more than 60 participants from leading sailing clubs across the country.

The championship, organized by the Dalia Water Sports Association with the support of the Tanger Med Foundation and under the supervision of the Royal Moroccan Sailing Federation, was held from Sept. 1 to 5, with 12 races contested in favorable wind, temperature and sea conditions.

In the overall Optimist standings, Dalia Water Sports Association athletes swept the podium, with Yassine El Ouafi taking first place ahead of Souhaib Tallal and Samy Hasni.

Hatim Chairi, also representing the Dalia club, won the ILCA 4 category, followed by Abderrahman Idrissi Zougari and Ilias Bakhati of the Royal Yacht Club of Tangier.

In the women’s Optimist category, Hajar Amari of the Yacht Club du Maroc claimed the title, followed by Janna Bennejma and Alya Aoulad Radi of the Royal Yacht Club of M’diq.

The women’s ILCA 4 podium was led by Ouiam Douaoui of the Dalia Water Sports Association, followed by Khadija Hajami of Caploisir and Soumaya Jade Aït El Akkaouali of the Royal Yacht Club of Tangier.

In the team standings, the Dalia Water Sports Association finished first, ahead of the Royal Yacht Club of M’diq and the Yacht Club du Maroc Sports Association of Mohammedia.

The organizers said the national championship provided a platform to showcase the skills of more than 60 competitors representing major Moroccan sailing clubs, including those from Dalia, Tangier, Agadir, Mohammedia and M’diq, as well as the Royal Navy Club in Casablanca.
