Morocco’s U18 men’s handball team reached the quarterfinals of the African Nations Championship after beating Libya 32-25 on Friday in Abidjan in their second Group C match.

Moroccan international Idriss El Hammoumi delivered a standout performance and was named Player of the Match.

The victory followed Morocco’s 33-26 win over Rwanda in their opening game, allowing the national team to finish top of Group C and secure its place in the quarterfinals.

The top two teams from each of the four groups advance to the last eight, with the tournament continuing in Abidjan until September 22.

The U18 African Nations Championship also serves as a qualifying tournament for the 2027 World Youth Handball Championship, with the five best-performing African teams earning places at the global tournament.
