Netflix has secured the exclusive broadcast rights to the 2030 FIFA World Cup in Spain and Andorra, with the U.S. streaming giant set to show all 104 matches live.

The agreement with FIFA marks the first time Netflix will stream every match of a men’s World Cup live on its platform in these two territories.

The tournament will be held primarily in Morocco, Spain and Portugal. Three centenary celebration matches will also take place in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, the host of the inaugural World Cup in 1930.

Netflix plans to offer more than live match coverage, with pregame, halftime and postgame shows tailored specifically to Spanish audiences. The platform also intends to provide a daily program on matchdays and release several World Cup-related programs in the months leading up to the tournament.

Some matches will remain free to watch

Although Netflix holds the exclusive rights in Spain and Andorra, Spanish viewers will still be able to watch part of the tournament for free.

The agreement provides for one free-to-air match per matchday. Every game involving Spain, both semifinals and the final will also be broadcast on a national free-to-air channel.

Netflix said further details, including the identity of the Spanish broadcaster that will receive these rights, would be announced closer to the tournament.

The arrangement will allow viewers to watch some of the competition’s biggest matches without subscribing to Netflix.

beIN Sports retains World Cup rights in MENA

Netflix has previously reached an agreement with FIFA to broadcast the 2027 and 2031 Women’s World Cups in the United States and Canada. The platform also holds rights to several major sporting events, including the NFL, Major League Baseball (MLB), WWE, boxing and mixed martial arts (MMA).

“Few events bring people together like the World Cup,” said Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s chief content officer, expressing her enthusiasm for bringing the entire tournament to fans in Spain and Andorra.

She also emphasized the particular significance of the 2030 edition for Spain, which will host matches on its territory.

FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström welcomed the strengthened partnership with Netflix.

“This will be a special edition of the tournament and we look forward to working together to bring it to fans in Spain and Andorra,” he said, emphasizing both partners’ commitment to making the competition accessible to as many people as possible.

In the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), which includes Morocco, beIN Sports holds the exclusive broadcast rights to the 2030 World Cup.
