Manchester City have accepted a reported $88.47 million (£65.4 million) bid from Barcelona for Spain midfielder Rodri, according to British media reports.
The 30-year-old has agreed a four-year contract with the Spanish champions and is expected to travel to Barcelona next week to complete the move, Sky Sports reported.
Rodri joined City from Atletico Madrid in 2019 for a then club-record of $84.96 million (£62.8 million). He made 298 appearances for the club and won 12 major honors, including four Premier League titles, two FA Cups, three Carabao Cups and the Champions League.
His most successful individual season came in 2024, when he won the Ballon d’Or after helping City to another Premier League title and Spain to European Championship glory.
Rodri also played a central role in Spain’s 2026 World Cup triumph, winning the Golden Ball as the tournament’s outstanding player.
The midfielder had one year remaining on his City contract, with the club previously hoping to extend his stay.
Rodri’s departure comes as he works his way back from a minor back operation. He missed City’s 3-0 Community Shield defeat by Arsenal on Sunday, August 16, after only recently returning to training.
