The Atlas Lionesses currently lead Group A with six points, having begun the tournament with a 4-0 win over Kenya, followed by a 1-0 victory against Algeria.
A win or a draw against Senegal will be enough for Morocco to secure qualification as group winners. A defeat, however, could complicate their qualification path, especially since the other Group A fixture between Algeria and Kenya will kick off simultaneously at the Rabat Olympic Stadium.
The women’s national team enters the clash against Senegal in high spirits, having recorded back-to-back victories without conceding a goal. In their first two matches, the national team showcased two different facets of their play: a dominant attacking display against Kenya, and a patient, concentrated effort to break down a tactically disciplined Algerian side in a tightly contested match that required a high second-half tempo.

Senegal, meanwhile, still has every chance of reaching the quarterfinals. After a 2-0 defeat to Algeria in their opening match, they revived their campaign by edging Kenya 1-0, thanks to Seynabou Mbengue’s 35th-minute winner.
Led by head coach Mame Moussa Cissé, the Lionesses of Teranga rely on tactical discipline, defensive solidity, and physical strength. They also boast experienced players such as Nguenar Ndiaye, Senegal’s all-time leading scorer at the Women’s AFCON with five goals.
Senegal reached the quarterfinals in both the 2022 and 2024 editions and are hoping to make the semi-finals for the first time in their history.
Morocco faces a different challenge than those posed by Kenya and Algeria, as Senegal must avoid defeat to keep their qualification hopes alive. The encounter is therefore expected to be more open, featuring an intense midfield battle. Senegal will look to exploit quick transitions, while Morocco will aim to dominate possession and impose their rhythm through the flanks.
Should Morocco finish top of Group A, they will face the second-place finishers of Group B in the quarterfinals on August 8 at Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat. The Group A second-place team will take on the Group B winners on the same day at Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca.
The match between Morocco and Senegal is scheduled for a 9 p.m. kick-off at Moulay El Hassan Stadium, coinciding with Kenya’s match against Algeria at the Olympic Stadium. The final round of Group A fixtures will determine the final standings and the two teams advancing to the quarterfinals.
