The final draw for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027 will be held on Friday, December 11, 2026, at Rio de Janeiro’s Museum of Modern Art, one of Brazil’s leading cultural landmarks.
“The choice of venue is intended as a tribute to the host country’s rich artistic heritage, but also to the creativity, imagination, and spontaneity that are inseparable from Brazilian football. The concept of futebol arte and the players who embody it on the pitch naturally have their place in such a museum, where visitors come every day to admire the talent of the greatest creators,” FIFA said in a statement.
The Atlas Lionesses, who qualified after beating South Africa 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, will learn the identity of their first opponents at this event.
More than 1,000 guests are expected to attend the draw, FIFA said. Representatives of teams that have already qualified, as well as those still competing for a place through the playoff tournament scheduled for February 2027, local authorities, stakeholders, commercial partners, and media representatives will all be present at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio. The exact time of the draw will be confirmed later.
After the ceremony, FIFA will publish the official match schedule, including the host cities for the group-stage matches and kick-off times.
The Women’s World Cup, which will be held in South America for the first time, will feature 32 teams competing in 64 matches across eight host cities. New attendance records are expected, with more than 800,000 people having already expressed interest in tickets and over 95,000 others indicating their desire to volunteer for the World Cup.
The tournament will take place from June 24 to July 25, 2027, at the following stadiums: Estádio do Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro, Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador, Estádio Nacional in Brasília, Arena Itaquera in São Paulo, Estádio Mineirão in Belo Horizonte, Estádio Beira-Rio in Porto Alegre, Arena Castelão in Fortaleza, and Arena de Pernambuco in Recife.
The group stage is scheduled from June 24 to July 8. The round of 16 will be played from July 10 to 13, the quarter-finals from July 16 to 17, and the semi-finals on July 20 and 21. The third-place match is scheduled for Saturday, July 24, in São Paulo, with the final taking place the following day in Rio.
The iconic Maracanã will host both the opening match and the final, becoming only the third stadium to host a men’s World Cup final (in 2014) and a Women’s World Cup final. The other two are Råsunda Stadium in Solna, Sweden, which hosted the finals in 1958 and 1995 before being demolished, and the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, United States, which hosted the finals in 1994 and 1999.
Morocco will participate in the competition for the second time in its history, after making its debut at the 2023 edition in Australia and New Zealand, where it reached the round of 16.
