Morocco international Yassir Zabiri became the fourth Moroccan player of the 21st century to score a hat-trick in La Liga, following Youssef En-Nesyri, Youssef El-Arabi and Munir El-Hamdaoui.

The player scored a hat-trick against Elche in Racing Santander’s 3-2 victory on Friday, August 28, on Matchday 3 of the Spanish league.

Zabiri is also the second-youngest African player to score a hat-trick in the competition this century, behind Samuel Eto’o, who achieved the feat against Almería in 2008 at the age of 24.

It was also Real Racing Club’s first hat-trick at El Sardinero in the competition since Javi Guerrero’s against Murcia in 2004.

Racing Santander officially announced Zabiri’s arrival from Stade Rennais on July 29. The Moroccan international joined the Spanish club on loan with the aim of gaining more playing time and continuing his development in Spain.
